Design & Branding
Emma Corkish is a busy mum of two young boys and a graphic designer with her own business, October Creative. Relatively new to Northwich life, Emma has thrown herself into a variety of community projects and provides graphic design and marketing support to TEDxNorthwich.
My background is in property marketing and despite the change in career I still spend far too much time drooling over dream houses on Rightmove... in fact my biggest professional achievement was winning a 'top achievers' award for my work in property marketing, which included an all-expenses-paid luxury holiday to Majorca with 50 estate agents.
I was a bit of a goth back in the day, with a nose piercing, black and red hair and I was a regular at heavy rock gigs. I still love the music, but my style has mellowed somewhat over the years.
I'm a big believer that you can do ANYTHING you want in life as long as you put your mind and all of your effort into it – there is nothing we can't achieve. That would be my topic for a TEDx talk.
Emma's favourite TED Talk
My favourite TED talk is a bit political. It's delivered by the journalist Carole Cadwalladr and focuses on Facebook's role in Brexit and the threat to our democracy. It's a powerful talk that I became aware of through a Netflix documentary 'The Great Hack'. I'd highly recommend it to anybody on either side of the debate:
